University of Ottawa
Residences / Sports Facilities

U of O Residences;

The university will do their best to ensure that first term students that want rez can get it.

About 3,000 Rez Rooms

In the fall of 2005 there were 29,567 students registered in all the faculties at U of O and there are under 3,000 on-campus spots available in the seven residences.

The university guarantees housing to scholarship recipients that have been accepted at U of O.

U of O Residences

Residences Hyman Soloway, the newest rez at U of O, and Brooks, which is currently undergoing renovations through until 2007, offer a variety of co-ed living accommodations in 2, 3 or 4-bedroom units (bedrooms are usually lockable) with common kitchens and bathrooms.

Thompson

Thompson Residence is a high-rise apartment style and is alcohol free. Stanton offers the same layout and provides similar services.

Marchand is co-ed, with a couple of floors reserved for women only, and is the residence many of the international students studying at U of O.

’University

LeBlanc

LeBlanc is the smallest of U of O's residences and is earmarked for francophone students, and those English speaking students that wish to immerse themselves in French.

90 University

The last of U of O's on-campus residences is 90 University. It's part of the main residential area, and is linked with other residences. It is co-ed, and offers similar facilities to Stanton and Marchand.

Special Needs

Some of the U of O residences offer units for those with special needs.

All of the U of O residences are non-smoking.

’University

Some child care facilities are available on-campus.

Meal plans are available, and are recommended, particularly for first year students. Knowing where the next meal is coming from, and not having to worry about having ready cash to pay for it, provides a level of comfort.

As alluded to earlier, there are many more students seeking on-campus housing than there are units available.

The University of Ottawa is blessed with substantial off-campus housing, often quite affordable, and close by.

The university offers seekers and landlords an electronic bulletin board to help students find available housing. For more information on off-campus housing, contact them during normal business hours at:
