Some wilderness in Ottawa ~ the Moose invade!

Earlier today, two moose wandered into the suburbs on the east end of Ottawa, and holed up in a wooded area to the rear of a local school.

No one was hurt as the huge animals were first spotted, tracked and a round up attempted.

Sadly, one of these great beasts took refuge in a residential backyard, and officials despatched it as humanely as possible.

The other moose, drugged from a number of tranquilizer darts that failed to bring it down, managed to escape.

While not exactly common, moose sightings in the east end of Ottawa are not that unusual, as their range encompasses that part of the city, and to the south east.
