Ski & Snowboard Ottawa; downhill runs

Ski - Snowboard Ottawa!

Downhill runs. Yeah baby!

This winter will see some spectacular snow falls in the greater Ottawa ski region, and it may turn out to be the longest ski season ever!

Here's information on the downhill ski facilities within a reasonable (day trip) driving distance from Ottawa's Parliament Hill.

They are listed in alphabetical order, and the distance from Ottawa's downtown (Parliament Hill) is shown for each.

Good skiing, eh?? :-)

Camp Fortune

Camp Fortune is approximately 22 kilometres (14 miles) from Parliament Hill.

Camp Fortune offers 23 downhill runs with 590 feet being the highest.

The offer 5 easy runds, 12 difficult, 4 that are noted as very difficult, and 2 reserved for those that like their skiing challenging.

The offer 12 trails that are lit for night skiing.

Trails are serviced by 7 lifts / tows.

The main lodge offers the expected amenities including food, first aid and equipment rental.

Camp Fortune also offers mountain biking.

Edelweiss

Edelweiss is approximately 34 kilometres (21 miles) from Parliament Hill.

Not relying solely on natures snow bounty, Edelweiss offers slopes groomed with sophisticated snow making machinery.

Boasting slopes that offer the downhill skier "very easy" to "extremely difficult" skill testing, getting to the top of these runs is easy with a variety of lifts providing chairs to over 7,000 skiers per hour.

One of their ski trails offers over 4,900' (1.5 km) of drop.

Fourteen of their eighteen trails are lit for night skiing.

Not interested in the boards (ski or snow)? What about tubing? Edelweiss offers 8 tube runs, and they are lit for night tubing.

The lodge offers tired and hungry skiers hot food, hot and cold drinks, a first aid station, equipment repair, and for the newbie, a ski school.

From the Ottawa / Hull area, Edelweiss can be reached by driving North on Highway 5 from Hull to Highway 105 to Wakefield, then east on Highway 366 to Edelweiss.
