No Rideau Canal Skating Yet....Folks!

Though the Ottawa temperatures have been sub-zero C for some time now, the NCC (National Capital Commission) reminds folks that the canal ice surface may not be safe.

The water depths in the Rideau Canal in downtown Ottawa can still be up to 4 meters deep under a skim of ice.

The canal normally opens for public skating in January. For safety's sake, it will be better to wait until then to take to your blades along Ottawa's long and wide downtown skating rink.
