Museum Civilization; Canada’s largest and most popular cultural institution
Museum of Civilation is just that. A history of Canada’s and much of the world’s civilizations, with displays from the original First Nations to the present.Some of the exhibits on display permanently in the Museum of Civilzation are:
Grand Hall;A gallery exhibiting the largest indoor collection of totem poles in the world
The First Peoples Hall; With artifacts, works of art, historical documents and with a variety of audio and visual presentations, the First Peoples Hall offers the visitor a celebration of the unique and diverse history of Canada’s First People. Special Exhibits Each year, the Museum of Civilization offers a series of special exhibits. These displays have a finite life, so it’s wise to check to see when one that particularly appeals to you will end. Contact information is at the bottom of this page. The CMC also houses an IMAX Theatre. There is an extra charge to see an IMAX film.“The giant IMAX screen, approximately seven-stories high, shows an image of stunning clarity. The IMAX Dome extends the experience even further by surrounding the visitor with brilliant, absorbing images.” The films at the Museum of Civilization IMAX Theatre will change regularly, so do check what’s on before attending. Amenities The Museum of Civilization offers the visitor amenities, such as, “The Cafeteria (which) offers a casual atmosphere, an appealing and varied menu, and quick, friendly service. To savor fine cuisine in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, plan a meal at the Café du Musée. For a light menu of sandwiches, desserts and beverages, try the Café Express, located in the Marius Barbeau Lobby. The Lunchbox is designed for individuals or groups with their own lunches.Food and drink are permitted only in the Museum's designated areas.
