Autumn Colours ~ 1000 Islands

It's a bit of a drive from Ottawa, about 90 minutes or so from downtown, but well worth it if you want to see fall magnificence juxtaposed with the mighty St. Lawrence River.

I had the opportunity of driving along the 1000 Islands Parkway today, Oct. 1/10.

It was mostly overcast, with spotty, and then some heavy, clouds. The contrast between the gray skies and the developing autumn leaf colour was awesome.

To me, the trees are about 10% along the way to full autumn foliage on the 1000 Islands Parkway.

You can even see the fall leaves on the hills of Northern New York State across the river, in spots.

Head south on the 416 to highway #401 westbound. You will travel past Brockville on the #401, and you'll soon see the exit to the 1000 Islands Parkway, to the left. Take the exit, slow down, and enjoy the view. It's wonderful.
